GREEN GARDEN WASTE BINS

Dear All,

As is now becoming widely known HDC are offering up to 10 green bins for certain Parishes.

The first the PC knew of this was when the information went out on the HDC Website.

We were not notified directly or had any consultation with HDC prior to their announcement.

There are many questions HDC have failed to address and we will be writing to them to address these issues.

We will be asking –

Why no consultation

How do HDC envisage misuse of the bins being dealt with by the PC

If the bins are damaged who pays for them.

Where legally can we store the bins ( in the village bus stop ?)

Will the bins become chargeable to the Parish going forward

Why they must be kept centrally as Woodwalton Village is reasonably large geographically and locating bins at each end would be more beneficial i.e. somewhere by Bridge Street and possibly at The Cross end.

Do the bins need adding to our own asset list and insurance

When will further information be made available to the PC ?

Will those who have already paid their annual subscription be refunded if the village opts to receive up to 10 green bins ?

Please note the above list is not exhaustive.

Aside from this there is the responsibility to the PC to ensure that the bins are put out, no misuse occurs and that the bins are stored safely.

In summary we are going back to HDC and asking all the questions we feel need answering.

In the PC`s opinion this is a knee jerk reaction to the complaints received over the charging for green waste and is an attempt to lay this issue at the PC`s feet.

Information regarding this can be found on the DC Website –

Should you have any questions please get in touch with the Clerk at

Once we have more information we will, of course, report back to the village.
